Arysta LifeScience launches two new products for UK and Irish markets
Evesham, United Kingdom—May 30, 2017—Arysta LifeScience, a global agricultural crop protection and life sciences company, today introduced new BioStimulant and seed treatment products for the UK and Irish markets. BM® Start, a BioStimulant that improves fruit and vegetable quality and yields, is now available in the UK market, while Signal® 300 ES, a powerful insecticide that protects seeds and seedlings, is now available in the Irish market.
Active Ingredient in BM Start derived from seaweed
Already successful throughout Europe, BM Start is a liquid formulation based on Physio Activator® Technology that improves nutrient uptake with better fruit setting, increases the number of fruits and fruit size, benefits fruit uniformity, and alleviates stress while limiting flower drop.
The product contains GA142, a natural active ingredient found in seaweed that grows along the coastline of North Brittany. The ingredient is extracted from seaweed within 24 hours of harvest using a unique cold manufacturing process to retain the active characteristics of fresh seaweed and to ensure a consistently high quality product.
After application, the active ingredient in BM Start unlocks nutrients in the soil, which may otherwise be unavailable to the target plant. Trials have shown that using BM Start can result in yield gains and an increase in top size categories.
“Maintaining plant health is vital in enabling farmers to produce an efficient crop, and that is essentially what BM Start does by improving the plant’s overall health and ability to achieve its potential yield," said Alison Casey, Arysta LifeScience technical lead for Vegetables. "BioStimulants and the entire BioSolutions market make a considerable contribution to sustainable agriculture, and we are proud to add these and other products to our portfolio, all of which supplement traditional crop protection products.”
BM Start has a wide range of applications, including fruit trees, grapes, berries and fruiting vegetables both indoors and outdoors. It is compatible with most insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, and fertilizers at a dose rate of two litres per hectare.
Signal 300 ES creates a ‘zone of protection’ against two common cereal pests
Already available in the UK, Signal 300 ES is now approved for sale in Ireland, offering farmers and agronomists a new cost-effective alternative to control wheat bulb fly and wireworm on wheat and barley. Signal 300 ES deters and controls these pests in crops by combining the insecticidal and repellent properties of cypermethrin with a unique low-dust formulation that provides excellent handling characteristics.
“Soil-borne pests can be devastating during crop establishment," said Rob Adamson, who provides technical support for Arysta in the UK and Ireland. "Wireworms, for example, can persist for up to five years after a grass ley, and can severely damage or kill unprotected seedlings during this time. Signal 300 ES offers an excellent way to reduce this damage by creating a zone of protection which allows the crop to establish itself, improving plant populations even under the most challenging of pest infestations.”
Signal 300 ES was developed at Arysta's Seed Treatment Centre of Excellence in Evesham, UK, and is part of Arysta's established portfolio of seed treatment products.
“With both new product introductions, Arysta LifeScience UK & Ireland delivers on its promise to bring new technology to both markets enhancing its offer beyond some of the more established crop protection products. We have made significant investments over the last 2 years in the UK & Ireland organization, more than doubling the size of the team with the aim to service our customers even better in the future and to have the right team in place to bring future innovations to the market”, says Hildo Brilleman, Head of North-West, Central and East Europe.
